Welcome to the Houston Orchid Society Newcomers Website

This web site is dedicated to providing information for the new orchid grower.  We provide culture information, photo galleries, local orchid sellers, and a way for Newcomers to show off their plants and growing areas and a place to buy, sell and trade. 

The first thing a newcomer should do is download the Newcomers Handbook.  It has the basic information that will get you started.    Please read the section on visiting greenhouses.  We are a quest in our host's home and there are a few simple rules we should follow.

Please send me pictures of your plants and growing area and I will post them in the members growing area page.  Use the email link at the bottom of the page to contact me.

Join Us In Miami

Several members of the Newcomers Group and other members of the Houston Orchid Society will be traveling to Miami in January for the 19th World Orchid Conference.  This is the premier event in the orchid world and  is only held in the US every 24 years.  If you have not made plans yet contact Debbie or Eddie or use the email link on this page for information and we will fill you in on what we have planned.
